End of Year Social (12/6/22)
We had a really good turnout and lots of great food when we held our End of Year Social.at the Spring Lake Pavilion. Sebastian spoke about the Yacht Club's open invitation for their social on December 15 (5:00pm at the Spring Lake Pavilion). He emphasized that we should not be put off by the word "Yacht" in their club's name (You don't even need a boat to come.) Later, Nate Skager (Director of Outdoor Recreation at the Island Rec Center) spoke about the upcoming offerings that their organization soon plans to provide, including kayak storage, rental, and local tours. Didi and Sebastian (pictured below) won the unofficial prize for the most imaginative dessert (dubbed by Sebastian "up the creek without a paddle").

Palmetto Dunes Paddle (11/19/22)
Spent some time paddling around in the canal system that runs all through Palmetto Dunes. The paddle was very peaceful and included several wildlife sightings. After the paddle, we enjoyed a relaxing and delicious dinner at Alexander's, which is right next door to the outfitters.

October Florida Paddle (10/25/22 - 10/27/22)
We did a marginally successful Bioluminescence paddle near Titusville, FL on the night of 10/25. The paddle was a nighttime paddle during a new moon, so photos were not really possible. The next day, some of us toured the Kennedy Space Center before taking the harrowing (and toll laden) drive through Orlando to Apopka, FL. The following day, we paddled the spring-fed Emerald Cut at King's Landing. Some of us continued on to paddle the open section of the Shuttle Run.

Page Island Paddle (6/24/22)
Leaving from Shelter Cove, we took a leisurely boat ride to Page Island, which is owned by Outside Hilton Head. After touring one of the many hammock islands in the chain, we launched from their dock and took a guided tour of the marshes around Daufuskie Island, stopping frequently to raft up and learn about the flora and fauna of our Low Country.

Fish Haul Creek Paddle (6/2/22)
Launching from the beach area of Fish Haul Beach Park, we paddled along the shoreline until we reached the mouth of Fish Haul Creek. Our group of 16 paddled the winding creek until we reach the end (about 2.5 miles), then turned around and paddled back, ending up on the beach again. It was the first time our club paddled that route and from the feedback received, it sounded like everyone had a good time. Thank you to everyone who contributed pictures of the trip.

Park Creek Paddle (4/2/22)
On Saturday we kayaked Park Creek, launching from the Mazzei residence on Deerfield Rd. and paddling the interior of the HHP marsh toward Spring Lake. It was a gorgeous day and everyone had a great time. Following the paddle a terrific brunch was provided. We would like to offer our thanks to the Mazzei, Fitzpatrick, Flaherty and Kilberg families for providing the brunch and ample parking.
